Hereford man accused of attempted murder is on trial

A HEREFORD man charged with attempted murder appeared before the Crown Court for the first time.

Andrew John Charles Thompson, 52, spoke only to confirm his name during the 10-minute hearing, was told by Judge Martin Jackson he was facing a trial in February 2022.

Thompson was arrested by police around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, following an incident at Dartmouth Court in Whittern Way, Hereford.

It was alleged that Thompson of Dartmouth Court stabbed the victim in the neck and stomach, but during the hearing in Worcester Crown Court on Thursday (Jan.

His attorney, Mark Thompson, said psychological and toxicological assessments were needed and the hearing was postponed until November 18, when he was due to be indicted and to file pleadings.

He wore a sweatshirt and appeared on video link from prison and was held in custody until the next court hearing.

Thompson faces charges of attempted murder and willful assault.
